Guest guest
I haven't posted much here, but I try and read most of the posts. We are still trying to make a decision regarding GHT. I have really appreciated all the information I have been able to get from this group. Our RSS daughter, Abby, is turning 6 six this month. She's slightly over 38 inches tall and around 25 pounds. Although it isn't the most important factor in making our decision, I wanted to get an estimate of the annual cost of GHT. It won't be covered by our insurance plan. Thanks, Sherri
Guest guest
Sherri -- Have you already gone through the appeals process with your insurance company with regards to GHT? Many of us have been told by our insurance company that GHT isn't covered, only to battle it and end up winning. MAGIC has someone with vast experience who can help handhold you through the process, giving you some great advice. The annual cost is astronomical -- I believe for our 8-year-old daughter it is about $15,000 but as the child gets older/larger and requires greater dosages the cost goes up. My daughter was almost your daughter's size when she was 5 -- 37 " and 27lbs. 3 years and 3 months later (on GH that is) she is now 51 " and 52 lbs. The other thing is that depending on your income and the insurance company, you may be able to get free or reduced cost GH through the pharmaceutical company's bridge program (each one calls it something different). And the pharmaceutical company dedicates someone to deal with your insurance company (it is in their best interests of course) We use Eli Lilly's Humatrope product, and my husband's company just switched from CIGNA to Aetna, and Aetna is hesitating at covering the GHT now. Eli Lilly just shipped us 30 days free, and never questioned our income, while we battle with Aetna. Salem > I haven't posted much here, but I try and read most of the posts. Guest guest
Thanks, . We still have much to consider and this is one more piece of information we needed. Eli Lilly's website has a large amount of information on it that is helpful, too.
