Guest guest
- I just wrote it on my " weekend To Do " list so I will try and not forget. Steve is going skiing with for the 3 day break with her Indian Princess tribe, so it is just Ty and I.... I am so glad to hear the positive results of Connor's shoe lift. Were you able to see/hear Bobbi McGrath's show-and-tell on shoe lifts at last summer's convention? The most important thing that Bobbi via her RSS daughter learned (and why Dr. H " requested " that we hold this show-and-tell) is that almost all shoe lifts are placed on the bottom of a shoe (in fact, the ortho websites I read were saying that inside the shoe isn't good unless the shoe lift goes the ENTIRE sole of the food at an EVEN amount -- is Connor's like this? It needs to lift the entire foot an exact even amount,a nd many of the inner lifts don't do this, they lift the heel more). In addition, by placing the lift on the inside of the shoe and lifting the foot, the foot now doesn't fit inside the shoe as properly, and the shoe can rub at different places and the ankle can have more difficulty. Anyways, back to the shoe lift. The shoe lifts that are placed on the bottom of the shoe are almost always stiff, one solid piece of rubber or whatever. This makes it difficult for the child to naturally bend their foot when walking. If you look at the bottom of your child's other shoe, you will see that shoes usually have cuts in them, at the bendable places. Well.... with a knife, you can cut the shoe lift to " mimic " the bendable cuts on the opposite shoe. If you get a good lift maker, they can even do this for you. I hope this makes sense. If not, we'll ask Bobbi to do her show-and- tell again this summer. Jennife > Howdy Folks, > > I was away at a minister's retreat here in VA and had a wonderful > time.
