Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to the group. I am sorry I didn't welcome you sooner, but i was in the hospital for a few days to get a PICC line and start my TPN. I am trying to adjust to the changes in my daily schedule since I am on the TPN for 12 hours a day. I am a 45 yr.old who was diagnosed with Mitochondrial Myopathy in 1995 with a muscle biopsy. In the year 2000 my MDA Neurologist changed my diagnosed to possible MELAS due to the stroke like episodes and other symptoms that have shown up after my 1995 biopsy. I weigh 76lbs. and am waiting for my J tube surgery. The hospital and the insurace company had an on-going conflit concerning my surgery, so my doctor decided it was time to put me on TPN for 3 to 4 months. He is hoping this will build my body up and help in the recovery of the J tube surgery. I do hope that the TPN isn't permanent. I am sorry to hear about all your problems with our health care providers. It seems that there are so many incompetent people working in the health care field and they just don't understand how much of an impact their mistakes make in our lives and to our health. I also wanted to mention that there is some talk that it may be possible that auto-immune disease and Mito go hand in hand. I do believe they are doing some kind of research on this. Their findings will be interesting, since I know of quite a few people who have a diagnosis of Mito and Rheumatiod Arthritis, Lupus, etc... I am glad you are here. It is a great place to be. I hope we can help you sort through all the health and medical questions that you have. Hugs, Ann-Marie -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus.
