Guest guest
Pat, I am seen by a neurologist and a pain management Dr. Pain mangagement help at the clinic that is at the same hospital as my neurologist is also very helpful. I go every six weeks so that I can be assessed for dosage of drugs etc. They put me on lyrica (pregabalin)in February for the pain (neuropathic nerve pain) its an epileptic drug. (very new to us all) I have previously used Neurontin but had no luck with it. The side effects of Lyrica are really starting to show now, I am dizzy and very foggy in the head. Weight gain and constipation are the two major ones I am not happy about. BUT does it help with the pain?? Well yes,it's like someone flipped a switch in my brain and I am on slow motion with the pain now feeling really different. I am on 450mg a day at the moment, my Dr. wants me to go up to 600mg a day but I don't think my body would accept that!. Next visit is June 27th so I will bring all this up with them and see what to do? I really hope you get that extra help with the pain as it takes over your entire life otherwise. I have a diagnosis of Chronic Pain syndrome as well as Mitochondrial Cytopathy. Look after yurself! Hugs Wanda (Australia)
