Guest guest
Hi I dont know if this helps but as a child I had stomach pains and I was diagnosed with " stomach Migranes " I don't know if this was part of my RSS as my docs did not know much about RSS then. torimask torimask@...> wrote:I'm sure someone has covered this information before, but I've done a couple of searches in the archive and can't seem to turn anything up. often complains of stomach aches, at least once a week here recently. Last Tuesday I had to pick her from school at lunch because of this (after trying Pepto mid-morning), and when I went to pick her up this afternoon, the teacher told me she was in the same shape today, really wasn't feeling well but mustered on through the day. It seems to be worse in the mornings and evenings than the afternoons. This could be completely unrelated to RSS, but I remember reading here about the increased likelihood of G.I. problems with the syndrome, so could someone fill me in on what is currently known about links between RSS and tummy aches so I can discuss this with her ped.? There was a discussion about abdominal migraines December 13 - 15, 2002. or try putting in a search for Fish, stomach pains. Cindy
Guest guest
Thanks Cindy, but nothing is appearing except recent posts. How far back do the archived posts go in the search, I wonder? > Hi, > I did a search because I remember this topic coming up. > There was a discussion about abdominal migraines December 13 - 15, > 2002. > > or try putting in a search for Fish, stomach pains. > > Cindy
Guest guest
The archives should go back to message #1. (At least you use to be able to archive back to the inception of this listserve). Guest guest
Tori, Just a thought, but have you checked when drinks milk? There are a lot of kids, not necessarily RSS, who are having difficulty with cow's milk these days. I could write a book about stomach problems. Max has them so frequently that the teachers just expect him to be absent a few days a month for this reason. He missed three days of school last week. Now, I know it was related to anxiety which sparked the whole thing, but he does have a long history of gut problems so they are easily triggered. I am not saying that has anxiety, though. I just know a lot of treatments and ways to help. Take a look at the milk thing, though, and see if that helps. Most doctors start there anyway. Jodi Z. Guest guest
-- -> another way you can do it, down at the bottom of your screen on the right you'll see Msg #, type in 23749, that's where the conversation started. Let me know if you have any trouble. Cindy
Guest guest
Tori, You might look into the milk issue as someone has suggested, as well as GI problems. I would also like to share that when I went to a GI, he suggested testing for celiac disease even thought he has no symptoms. He said sometimes the only symptom is growth. The blood test came out positive for one marker and negative for another. Since I did not want to put him through another test to find out for sure, I just took him off the wheat. What a difference!! Weight gain, no fussy eating and will eat almost anything. He also has problems with milk, (always has) and we found out that he had a problem with reflux on soy. We will gradually put some of this food back in at some point but I'm not rushing because he is doing so well. We do have to find out for sure if he has celiac disease or not. Just thought you might be interested. PS - I have a daughter (non RSS) who complains about stomachaches and it has interfered with her eating and weight gain at times. Guest guest
I am guessing a zillion people have already responded but running out the door to get kids from school. I would suggest that your daughter see a GI doctor to rule out silent reflux, and also, if she is constipated, she may want to have delayed gastric emptying ruled out as well. My daughter also complained of tummy aches -- and we found out that she had severe reflux!!!! We thought it had gone away after she was 1 year old. The only " describing " she could give was a tummy ache. It was at its worst in the morning and evening, because these were the largest meals. She pretty much snacked all day long for the rest so less stuff in the tummy. We started with Zantac twice a day which helped. THen it came back more. So we moved to Prevacid in the morning and Zantac in the evening, and she has had ZERO problems since. Good weight gain. No one wants to eat when they have a tummy ache. She also complained of intermittent tummy aches lower, and we found out that despite having daily bowel movements, she was very badly constipated. A daily dose of Miralax with orange juice every morning has resolved that -- no tummy aches and a whopping 3 pound weight gain in the first month alone! > I'm sure someone has covered this information before, but I've done a > couple of searches in the archive and can't seem to turn anything > up. often complains of stomach aches, at least once a week > here recently.
