Guest guest
Hi gang I'm still relaxing in my penthouse at Mass General. The surgery went fine but the patient's a mess! lol After the surgery it took a bit too long for thr muscle relaxants to wear off so I couldn't lift my head or press the PCA button and I ended up with aspiration pneumonia. I'm regaining my strength and have been feeling a bit better each day, but my gut just doesn't want to wake up. I had the G and J tubes placed last Friday and I'm still draining a liter of bile a day through the G tube. I'm up to a whopping 5ml/hr of formula through the J. I'm on zelnorm and octreotide for motility. Not sure if anything's helping yet but we'll see. Tomorrow they're changing the formula so I'll only need 35ml/hr to get all my calories. Then I'll continue my 2 to 3 liters of fluid a day through the PICC until my gut works better. Man, even though I m hurting now, it was a good move to get the G and J placed. I had severe electrolyte deficiencies due to vitamin D deficiency because of the FOD. Might be a good thing to get checked next time you have labs! Vitamin D level should be over 25, mine was 1.2 And it showed on my EKG. Hopefully I'll be able to go home some time next week.
