Hi Alan,

Thanks for your prompt reply. DW was on 4500mg of Neurontin a day up until last

month when they switched him to Lyrica....supposedly a new generation of

Neurontin. We can't tell any difference except he only takes 46 pills a day

instead of 55. He's also on methadone for pain and it's quit helping too. It

seems like some drugs work good at first and then his metabolism does its crazy

thing and it's like giving him candy pills.

I really appreciate your quick reply.

Thanks!

Lynda

I had some very intense shooting pains from my head, back, eyes, all over. My

neurologist gave me Neurontin. It helps alot.

It's been a while since I've posted. We are in the middle of calving and

kidding season here in KY.

Last night, Dewayne (DW) had a spell that is new for us and I wonder if it

could have been a SLE.

He had excruciating stabbing pains from the back of his head(base of his

skull) that shot over his head into his left eye. When I found him, he was on

his knees and almost ready to pass out. He told me that he couldn't see

anything for 20-30 seconds. It was all black. I held his head up from hitting

the concrete floor and our little son called for help. (Thank God for all of the

family on the creek)

We got him back to the house and he refused to go to the hospital. This

morning he has a dull headache and says where it started at the base of his

skull is very sore.

Is this familiar to anyone? We had just had a little episode which I thought

maybe caused it.

I was trying to sort through the 50 plus does and kids and put them in their

stalls for feeding. Two of our livestock guardian dogs got into a horrible

fight. (had never happened before) Of course, I tried to make them stop but do

know better than to grab at them while fighting. DW heard the noise, came to

the door and starting screaming at me to get away from them. As he opened the

door, one shot out of the barn and hightailed it away. Then less than 2-3

minutes, the pain happened.

I almost thought it was caused by him screaming so loud trying to yell over

the ruckus.

I know and apologize for this being long.....just trying to make sense out of

another possible problem.

A big blessing is that we do see his main neurologist tomorrow morning. But I

wanted to check with you all cause I take alot of info from this wonderful group

to the drs. with us.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Laurie,

First off I need to apologize that I never got around to sending my sympathies

to you and on the loss of your Father. I did pray for both of you and

your families that entire week. Sometimes between this farm, my family, DW's

disease and oh yeah, my real job that keeps us insured, I just have time to scan

the messages. I do keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers each day though.

Also have you heard from Nicki lately? I have worried about her and there

hasn't been anything about her for a LONG time.

I had thought that perhaps DW getting excited could have popped a blood vessel

in the back of his head. I suppose they will check him out very carefully

tomorrow. One of the family members has my blood pressure cuff (one of the bad

things about family living on the next farms---stuff is always borrowed). I'll

recall it today and check it out. Thanks for your wisdom and quick response. I

didn't even try to get to church this morning. I hit my own leg last night

swinging a bucket at those darn dogs. I have to say I still have quite a bit of

strength in my arms...I have a pump knot on my leg:)

I may try and put a NMR goat baby picture on here one day. They are precious

and keep me going.

Love, Lynda R.

I'm glad you are seeing the neuro tomorrow as a doctor has to decide

what this is. I have had the stabbing pain and have lost vision (in

both eyes) and this was thought to be due to a migraine. Screaming can

raise the blood pressure, so it might have been related. Please tell

this part of the episode to the doctor. Do you have a blood pressure

machine/cuff? You might want to ask the doctor about having one. High

blood pressure, even if intermittant can cause lots of things.

I hope the doctor has some suggestions and that DW feels better. Good

luck with all the new babies.

Lynda,

Could it be that the Lyrica is interfering with the methadone etc as it

might be metabolized differently than the Neurontin is? Did the change

seem to coincide with the medication change?
