Guest guest
Dolores, My mother was on anti seizure medication since about 1975 I think. She used to " black out " and faint. Once it happened when we were at a grocery store. For some reason my mother and father never pursued it further--my father worked for the family insurance agency and did not have health insurance. The only " seizure " she had was a week before she died. When they drove down to bring my car to me after I got back from my Army Reserve trip to Germany her right arm was shaking. We took her to the Emergency Room--that is another story--anyway they went home that night and on Tuesday she was back in the hospital and Thursday went into a coma from a massive seizure. My sister had two of the type you think of with epilepsy where the whole body shakes. I myself have had the kind you describe where you loose time. I cannot of course say for sure but can think of 3 times in my life where I think they have happened. An MRI spectraposy in 1997 showed evidence of seizures. I can remember in 1976 at 8th grade seeing spots and fainting, in 1989 during a USAR training exercise doing the same, and once in 1991 I parked the car to go into a store. I remember looking at the clock on my dash and thinking that the store would be closing in 1 hour. Next thing I knew I kind of woke up. I looked at the clock and the store would close in 1/2 hour. To this day I am not sure what happened or if I really blacked out. My 12 yr old son will do where he will all of a sudden just stare for a few seconds to a minute or so. Then he will shake his head and say ha? Anyway, even if you cannot remember the name for them--I probably could not, silent seizures is a good name. Glad that all you lost was the food and that the other problems were discovered. Janet Sample RE: appointments/drivers At least I now have something moving. I think my surgery April first, then the two biopsies and then bamding my hemorrhoids on June 23rd, then 's birthday would have been July 2nd and he always continued his birthday thru the fourth of July so that was a stressful time even though I tried for it not to be.. Also, I just don't think for someone age 69 that I had enough recovery time especially with me trying to take care of me. It's hard being alone, I've found that out the last 11 months. My son Bill and my grandson Jeff do theit best but the both have their own lives, especially Jeff three daughters seven and under, it's hard. Bill drives back and forth to KC every day to ensure his job as a trackman for Burlington Northern/Santa Fe. He started there when he was 18 and he can't afford to quit and like he said he can't move to Pampa, Texas and leave me so he's in a pickle and has been since 2002. I'm not sure what the big word Dr. Welch used but then he said the terminology " Silent Seizure " is as good an explanation as any. He said that if these people that have an accident and say they blacked out and they don't find evidence of a heart attack or stroke that if they did a neyrological workup on them they nine times out of ten would fid that they jad a silent seozure. I didn'd drop anything or like what I thought a seizure would be like (my seizures were both nocturnal nut I was moving or thrashing as I woke my husband up both times.
