Guest guest
The only problem I could imagine would accompany a flat foot would be finding shoes that are comfy. Right? Mommy to (12-17-98) and Christian (1-30-04) LCF - DBB (nights only) _____ From: shelbytru Sent: Monday, January 31, 2005 2:16 PM To: nosurgery4clubfoot Subject: Reply from Dr. Ponseti re: Hello again, We got our reply from Dr. Ponseti regarding being released from the FAB on her birthday, just 2 weeks away. He stated that the possibility of relapse after 5 years old is very rare. He did say that there has been one relapse they have seen after the age of 7 but that case may also involve a mild neurological disorder, they are still not sure. If a relapse was to occure it may take up to 4 or 5 months for us to start to notice it at this age. Also regarding the flat foot posts, I just wanted to mention that is flat footed also. She has always worn the Markell shoes on the brace. At one point when Dr. Ponseti released her from the brace at 3 years old, part of that decision was to hopefully let her form some arches. He felt there was a possibility that the shoe brace was preventing her from forming arches although I have to admit when I look at her feet, they look just like her dads! My husband is pretty flat footed and so is his mother and neither of them had clubfoot. From all I have read since then, flat-footedness is very common (in non clubfoot individuals) and many people have no problems or pain associated with the condition. Guest guest
Hi, Holly & ! I've been meaning to post since I saw you pop back on recently. It's always good to hear from you! Let me know if you've set up an email account yet so I can email you off-line! I'm glad is doing so well- and HAPPY early BIRTHDAY! Keep us posted if you're ever heading over to Iowa! I don't know if you saw the posts, but there's a new Ponseti doctor in the Grand Rapids area too.......just thought I'd let you know! I think you're right, that being flat footed isn't necessarily a prescription for painful feet in the future and it's probably partly hereditary. =) Take care! & > > Hello again, > We got our reply from Dr. Ponseti regarding being released from > the FAB on her birthday, just 2 weeks away. Guest guest
Hi ! I've been thinking about you guys and wondering how is doing these days. I can't read posts everyday but I've been keeping up again as much as time allows. I'm sure I won't be able to post as much as I used to, but it's nice to be back here and there again. I'm trying to be very possitive with the no shoes thing, excited again but more nervous because of what happened at 3 years. She's such a big girl now, I can't believe it. I'll be thrilled when enough time has gone by without the shoes that I can finally take a big breath of relief! That is possible, right? It has been so encouraging to see so many old timers kiddo's out of the shoes and doing so well. How are and Jakob? How old is he now, about 6? Hi if you're reading! Talk to you later, Holly and > > > > Hello again, > > We got our reply from Dr. Ponseti regarding being released > from > > the FAB on her birthday, just 2 weeks away. Guest guest
Holly- It is great to hear your news about being released and not having to worry too much about relapse since she will be hitting the " 5 " mark! Enjoy putting her to bed with no shoes on:) > > Hello again, > We got our reply from Dr. Ponseti regarding being released from > the FAB on her birthday, just 2 weeks away. Guest guest
I am flatfooted and don't have any problems, although I think I may be getting bunyons, but I think anyone can get those.
