Hello Everyone-

Last night was extremely horrible. About 6:30pm we started to feel

the effects of Katrina. However the worst came between the hours of

9:45pm to 4 am....Gusty winds and Tuscaloosa was hard hit! We

listened to the transmissions of people within the parishes of New

Orleans as a radio station was carried it: it was awful!!!! One lady

said there were screams of people trapped, animals caught alive in

wires, etc. We had a tree to fall across my parents yard and missed

a few inches of hitting the neighbors house. It caught on another

tree beside their house.

We are watching for falling trees. There is no way I can get home.

The county that sits on the Alabama Side of the state line -Pickens

County is the only way I can go home. And nobody is ALLOWED within

the county because it is completely torn to shreds. Having said

that, our house in Columbus,MS sits 5 miles from Pickens County,AL.

I called a neighbor's teenage son who said our houses are ok, but

that doesn't mean they have been around it to investigate as I woke

them up.

My husband is going over to the house to check it out and let me

know what is going on. I am concerned because of water mocassins and

if the creek 2 miles away flooded, then we might find them around

our yard. Scary, poisonous snakes..

I pray those of you that are in the path of this storm will be ok.

Praying for your safety.

We still have yet to hear whether my cousin who lives in Gautier, MS

37 miles east of Gulfport has a house. We haven't heard from them at

all, know they were to be in Daphne, AL at their daughter's house.

I do so much appreciate all the prayers said for us. Better get

going for now.

I'll try to get to the emails soon.

Hugs-

Ann

I am praying for all you in the path of Katrina,

..
