Guest guest
Hmmmm..... is yours the kind where you screw the dilutant onto the cartridge with the powder, and then push the needle directly in? (versus the old way with the vial of dilutant where you first draw up air and inject it into the vial of GH, and then push the dilutant in). Sometimes when I screw on the dilutant, and begin pushing the needle in, the air literally forces my plunger BACK OUT, and if I am not pushing it in very hard, the air pushes it back out and the dilutant would come back. Is this maybe what happened? > hi everyone. i need some advice from the veterans who uses humatropen. when i mixed the diluent syringe to the cartridge, half of the liquid went inside the cartridge the rest didn't go inside and it overflowed. i never had this problem before. i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong. it's too late for me to call the pharmacy for help. i have to skip giving my son his shot tonight. when i told him i couldn't give him his shot, he said " what happened to my shot, i need my shot " (he's only 3 1/2 years old). > > do you think i'll be able to get a replacement for the humatrope cartridge. is it possible that the cartridge kit i have was defective or is it just me that's doing something wrong? > > thanks in advance for your respond. > >
Guest guest
It sounds like you did not equalize the pressure when putting the diluent into the powder vial. You have to first push the diluent in a little bit and then let the air force the " plunger " back up with air. In all, if you are putting in 5cc of diluent, then you have to take out 5cc of air. The same for 2cc - 2cc in, 2cc out. If not, then the diluent WILL spill out. The vial can only hold so much in volume, including air. Call the company and tell them what happened. They will usually replace whatever you have made a mistake with. This happened with us several times and we did not have a problem with replacements. Jodi Z.
