Guest guest
lies uses a Respironics Synchrony system which is extremely quiet. To reduce the risk of infections, we use a Fischer Pykal for humidity vs blow over. The FP is also much quieter than blow over. lies and TOm use the Nasal-aire nasal pillows instead os the rigid nasal pillows or any of the masks. > Any ideas about the quietest BiPAPs and CPAPs? > What > about comfortable air pillows, etc. Joanne Kocourek (mom to , lies, and ) visit us at: http://www.caringbridge.org/il/annakris
Guest guest
, I use a bi-pap. I use the Nasal-Aire for my air pillows. I tried a couple of masks through the years and with daily facial drooping (in different places), I never had a good seal. The nasal-aire has worked great for me. What about comfortable air pillows, etc. Don't think I'd be compliant with a mask. I need a quiet machine because hubby and I have to hear 's alarms. Guest guest
I have both obstuctive and sleep apnea and have been on CPAP for over 4 years. My neuro wants me to have a sleep study once a year to make sure my pressure settings are correct. I started at 9, then went to 11 after three years and am now at 17 after a year. I am now on C-flex which is somewhat similar to biPAP. I use a respironics which is quiet, but now as quiet at 17 than it was at 11. I use a full face mask because I breath through my mouth at times. I am having trouble maintaining a good seal with increased pressure. I see a pulmonologist who is also my sleep doc. Good luck and don't get discouraged. It takes time to get everything but together and get use to it. laurie > Any of the adults here have central apnea? Guest guest
I researched ritalin as part of my graduate studies, and I'd say avoid it (or really any " stimulants " ) if possible. I personally think the number of cases ritalin actually helps is outweighed by the people who have trouble with it If anyone or their loved ones is on Ritalin or similar, I would suggest looking into Attenade, a chirally pure version of ritalin (only containing the active form, not a mix of active and inactive forms of the drug), to help minimize the potential for side effects. Regarding " hypersomnolence " , I was told that I have theta or slow waves on my EEG when awake, which only should appear when sleeping, so they asked me if I was tired too (duh!). Guest guest
I've decided that I just don't want to be kept awake with stimulants. I'm not convinced that I don't have ADHD so I wonder if it'd make me sleep anyway. Caffeine makes me sleepy. Guest guest
Hi a, Did you have a problem with your nose getting dry when you first started to use the Nasal-Aire pillows? And if so what did you do to help that problem? What about your throat getting dry while using the b-pap? Any suggestions??? The reason I ask is that my husband Kim is having a very difficult time with his nose being dry. He has been on all the other types of masks, but he pulls them off in the middle of the night. Guest guest
Hi Ann Marie, lies uses heated humidity via a Fischer Pykel system using sterile water. You can adjust the amount of humidification with this system. Guest guest
Thank you Joanne My husband used the Normal Saline spray but not that many times during the day. Maybe if he uses it more often during the day it might help. What is a Fischer Pykel system? Is there a website for that? Do you have to purchase it or do the Home Health Care companies carry this? Thanks for your help!! Because of the problems he is having he isn't using it all night long like he should, which is resulting in him being extremely tired during the day. Guest guest
I had extreme daytime sleepiness during the day when I had my first sleep study. That was done as part of my sleep study. Once I was on CPAP, it went away, because I was getting better sleep. It might make a difference for you as well. laurie > I've decided that I just don't want to be kept awake > with stimulants. Guest guest
Ann-Marie, I also use the saline nasal spray, during the day. My nose and throat get dry every so often, but not enough that my pulmo wants to change anything. I did notice that I had more dryness when I first started using the Nasal-Aire pillows, but that has decreased a lot over time. How have you been feeling?
