Guest guest
Today was not a good one here. My son, who I have managed to keep healthy for 5 years and antibiotic free has strep throat. We went through the list of every antibiotic to see if any were gfcf. The problem is that if they were, they had soy or other fillers in them that he is allergic to. I spent 6 hours on the phone between doctors and pharmacies and manufacturers. The final verdict was a shot in the butt of bicillin. I have no idea if it is gfcf, but reading the ingredients I saw nothing that jumped out at me that did with the other drugs like zythromax. He cannot have sulfur drugs due to egg allergy. Plus, he will not take any liquids without an enormous chasing around the house and restraining him, which I did not relish for the next 10 days. The only thing in bicillin that caught my eye was the soy lecithin to which he is also allergic. We stayed at the hospital to make sure he didn't have a reaction. The only thing we saw was 10 minutes after the shot, he became aggressive, hitting and pinching us. Today I started out very excited knowing I had help as I have been cooped up with 2 kids with strep all week. I, of course, had to cancel all help as he is still contagious. Phyllis K.
