Guest guest
I stopped supplements 2 weeks before my biopsy and it came back normal. I was told that I would have had to be off of the supplements for 1-2 months prior to the biopsy if I wanted them not to effect results. Dr Shoffner said that I didn't need to be off of them at all, but since that time Dr Korson is telling his patients to stop taking their supplements one month before the biopsies. He said this based this on me and one other patient b/c he felt so strongly that we had mito and both of us had normal biopsies on supplements, that he felt that all patients should go off of supplements beforehand if possible. My biopsy may have been normal without the supplements too, so I have no idea if that impacted how the results came out. But, if I ever had another biopsy I would try to stay off of the supplements as long as I could beforehand to take out that variable. I did not stop any supplements, and my muscle biopsy showed no Complex I activity. Although I've heard frequently that doctors say to stop supplements, I haven't heard anyone who said they thought their muscle biopsy was normal because they stayed on supplements (anyone with a story like that?). Guest guest
I didn't stop the supplements before my biopsy and my biopsy was normal - except for low CoQ10 in my muscle tissue. I would have thought the low CoQ10 would have effected the complex activity. Maggie > I was told to stop supplements, UNLESS stopping them would impact my > health too strongly.
