Guest guest
Hi all: Here's a question for those of you treating yeast problems... We had been giving (2.5) nystatin 3x per day and culturelle 1x day for about two months...then he got the flu and was off all supplements for about 2 weeks. I kept him off the meds for an additional week while we completed the specimen gathering for Dr. Amy's tests. In that period of time he has been doing great...I mean fantastic as far as language, eye contact and engagement. Now, I have started him back on the nystatin again (only 1x day, trying to ramp up to the max dose again) and he has been just a mess...melting down, keeping to himself, horrible diarrhea, ulcerated sores on bottom, struggling for words). My husband wants him off the nystatin for good since he feels that is losing the gains he had made. I don't know what to do and since our test results aren't back we don't have anything official from Dr. Amy...although she did look at our test results from GPL and said that he probably had an unresolved clostridia problem and that nystatin would not address that. Any advice you have or links I should check out to help us through this would be so appreciated. Thanks, M in Upstate NY Mom to (4), & (2.5)
Guest guest
It is my understanding if you kill off the yeast without addressing the clostridia problem that you just give the clostridia more room to grow.
