Guest guest
I hear ya, Trish...and I can literally say I " feel your pain " ...OMG, about 11 weeks, I went about 6 days without going - despite all the " tricks " of fibre, fluid, etc....In fact, I had to leave work at 0430 one morning because I could literally not sit. That afternoon (yes, this is gross and those who are squeamish should not read it), after being awake and crying for hrs, I was literally disempacting myself, bawling my head off. I got Dave to finally go get me a Fleet enema and I couldn't even keep that in. I was finally able to go (won't gross you out any more with how and why) late that afternoon. Literally, the only day in my life where I almost needed emergency and a plumber in one day. It took a long time for the muscles to get to normal back there... Anyway, my Dr said that I could take Lactulose - 30 to 60 ml up to tid (three times per day)...You are in Canada right? If so, you can get it under the name Lactulose in any pharmacy. Just ask the pharmacist. It comes in 1 L bottles. The other name you might find it under if you are in the US or elsewhere is " chronulac " . Its a liquid syrup that is absorbed by the bowel. I would check with a WLS specialist though, especially if you have had an RNY, because I am not sure if it would make you dump. I had to take it twice a day (30 ml at a time) for a week or so every day. Since then, I have only needed it once a day once or twice a week...I think its because the baby is up higher now and not sitting right on my colon. I have also been able to be more active since I am not on activity restrictions anymore. Wishing you luck with this very painful problem, > OK here is another one of those " icky " almost too personal > questions. I have been constipated. I was taking bulk fiber -- > FiberCon EVERY day. It kept me regular and flowing fine. I was > talking to the nurse at my old doctor and she said I shouldn't take > it everyday. So I started taking it every 2-3 days.
