Recently, there were icing coloring suggestions in Miss Roben's latest

catalog. You could probably follow those, plus add an acceptable vinegar

and also water as you normally would for Easter egg dye.

The following is quoted from spring/winter 2001 Miss Roben's Catalog, p.

17. More resources on natural dyes can be found at

http://www.icangarden/KidzKorner/dyes.htm.

Red: pomegranate juice, or dried, powdered, boiled, unsalted red beets

(grind in the blender of food processor--will not effect flavor).

Pink: cranberry juice, raspberries, red currants, strawberries

Lavender: grape juice. For a darker lavender, use 4 cups frozen or fresh

blueberries.

Yellow, gold, orange: turmeric powder, yellow mustard powder, curry

powder, annatto powder (yellow to orange color depending on amount used),

carrot juice.

Rich brown: instant coffee granules

Green: pureed cooked spinach (thawed frozen spinach works great)

Blue: blueberries

Brick red-orange: paprika, Blue-Purple-blueberries, purple grape juice,

blackberries, blackberry juice

I hope someone finds these suggestions helpful.
