Guest guest
Hi all! I just wanted to post a short note, but it may get long. We just got back from our Chicago trip wtih Matt. The great news is he has grown 2 1/2 inches since July and 3 pounds. He is doing just awesome on the GH and his endo is thrilled. He also saw a peds allergist, who tested him and it all came back negative. So we really have no idea what he is allergic too. But the best thing was the feeding clinic at Easter Seals. I mean it, they were fantastic. I haven't had a chance to catch up on all the posts while I was gone, but I saw several about a feeding clinic. If they are as good as this one, Go For It! These were the people at convention and they were awesome. The GI doc really answered some questions for me, validated what our regular GI guy is doing and had a couple of suggestions. The speech/feeding therapist spent some time with Matt, watched him eat, talk and play. She has suggested that one of Matt's problems is an incorrect bite. His teeth don't meet right, so we need a peds orthodontist. Plus, he needs speech/OT due to a sensory problem. Evidently, he doesn't really use his left side of his mouth, only the right. And he chews only enough to get the food in small enough bites to pretty much swallow whole. So, we have a long list of things to get started on and we will. I have to say, the day I was there I was a bit overwhelmed. (Ask ) But they really were great and gave such awesome suggestions that we can move on from here. Anyway, I can go on and on, and will if you want to email me privately. But the clinic was great and if any of you can make it to Chicago for it you should try. We are still trying to get it all approved through insurance, the first time through was denied. But once they see the eval and the documented problems Matt has, we are hoping for coverage. They were really helpful at the clinic, helped me write letters and everything. Email me for more info. And a special thanks to J. She really goes out of her way for people, and I really appreciated her helping me out during our appointment!!! Beth
