Creon i said to be even more effective

Creon is, however, a prescription drug.

Its active ingredient is called " pancrelipase " ,

and its primary use is for patients who have

pancreatic dysfunction. It's a broad spectrum

enzyme product, designed to handle not only

proteins / protein fragments (peptides), but

also lipids (fats) and, I think, carbohydrates.

It's not known whether the beneficial effect of

Creon is tied to the higher level of proteases

(enzymes that break down protein) or to the

presence of the other types of enzymes.

Accidental infringements in this house are an absolute nightmare and I am

very interested in anything that can help alleviate some of the symptoms!

Right now we use enzymaid and pepcid ac when there is a problem, but it

sounds as if this other enzyme may be better. I thank you all who have

brought the information about it to the list! I do plan on trying it here at

home, not necessarily to test the diet- we know we need the diet but hey,

accidents happen and its nice to have a safe guard.

Whether that is accomplished by removing the offending allergen or causing

the body to correctly process foods so as not to create the peptides becomes

a matter of perspective. It's not the food that's the enemy - it's the

peptide.
