Guest guest
Hey Jen, stayed in his carrier until he was almost two! Once he got too long (he could push his feet hard against the back seat) we bought him a car seat that would go either forward or backward. He stayed backwards until he was 20# which was shortly before his second b-day. Xavier is actually bigger than was at 14 months of age, and look how far he's come. There's always hope that Xavier will be forward-facing before he's 5! LOL Facing forward has everything to do with strength and muscle tone, and from my understanding, the baby should be able to sit on their own, with no support before you turn the car seat around. As far as getting his arms out of the 5-point harness, this would suggest to me that the shoulder strap connector might be too low on his chest. You could try moving it up closer to his chin. Another possibility could be that either, the straps are not tight enough, or the straps might need to be moved to a lower hole in the back of the seat. Hope this helps!
