Guest guest
I wish my Dr would have called me to tell me to go in for iron infusions BEFORE my pregnancy. I've been exhausted for the previous 2 years since the end of my pregnancy and my son's birth just to NOW find out after 4 specialists have seen me that I am going to be referred to a 5th Dr- a hematologist- with the possibility of bone marrow transfusions and upper and lower scopes to see if I am bleeding from anywhere or if its just the surgery causing the malabsorption. Now reading so much information that low iron or B12 levels can cause miscarriage, defects etc etc etc, I wish I had the opportunity to have had it done before preg or delivery. I can't WAIT to request an IRON transfusion next week!!! I can't imagine what it will feel like to have some energy. I can't imagine your Dr calling you just because you were " on the low side " . I would request your labs from him or your hospital and SEE FOR YOURSELF. Dr's offices are often known for making mistakes. (speaking from personal AND professional experience!) Dont be afraid of a transfusion! Imagine how much better you'll feel! One little poke and it's over. If its the kind of transfusion I am thinking of, they can stick you once for all 5 of your iron treatments (given here in a series of 5 treatments over 5 days) and you won't have to be stuck more than once. They can send you home with instructions on how to care for your IV site. then they can just plug their iron up to you everyday. (called a saline lock or heparin lock). Again, every state/city is different so I am just speaking for KY/WV. BEST WISHES!! Sheila
