Guest guest
Hopefully someone else will be able to respond. I have no medical background so I can't really explain this, and have asked 2 other parents to actually do some of the writing for the guidebook on this section and the one on IGF-1 stuff. All I can tell you is that these studies talk a lot about our kids being insulin sensitive inherently (what does that mean? that the insulin reacts more to food, etc. than normal kids?? I have no idea!!!). But I know that your insulin levels should be at a certain level, and when on GH, those levels rise (which I have been told can also create hypoglycemia problems -- again not sure why, but guessing somehow the insulin isn't working right to help counteract when the blood sugar rises???). But I know that they strongly suggest that the kids get annual blood work while on GH. And all the studies that followed these kids for 6 months or more after discontinuation of GH found that the levels returned to pretreatment levels by 6 months post-discontinuation.
