Guest guest
Ann-Marie, What I meant is that for some programs, like foodstamps and Section 8 housing, if someone is eligible and is disabled they can deduct medical expenses related to their disability (or possibly medical expenses in general) from their income, so that the benefit they receive (foodstamps, Section 8 subsidy) will be greater. This may be true of other federal programs and benefits as well. To qualify for this, you may have to first be " certified " as disabled, by being on disability or in some other way. People on SSI or SSDI qualify as " disabled " for Section 8 and foodstamps. Hope this clarifies what I was saying; if not please say so. Randall Randall/Medicaid and section 8 Hi Randall, Can you explain your statement below for me? I am in a Mito Fog today and am not quite sure what you are saying. Thanks! I know you can count the cost of supplements recommended by a doctor for a condition for programs like foodstamps and Section 8, which is nice, since you can count the same supplement expenses for more than one program, and it can make a big difference in the benefit amount. But getting Medicaid or other insurance to pay for it sounds even better! Randall
Guest guest
I checked with my state Medicaid office (land). They do not cover anything that is sold over the counter - no supplements at all, regardless if prescribed or recommended by a doctor. However every state is different.
