Guest guest
Sooo... went and had my first (of many more to come) non-stress tests today and the babies didn't feel like cooperating much. The tech was able to pick up our daughter's heartbeat really easily, but within seconds of finding our son's heartbeat, he would move and his monitor would start picking up her heartbeat. After chasing him around for a while we we able to find the most accurate position for the monitor and then had to hold it there manually. The tech told me its often hard to get steady readings on multiples since both monitors can pick up one heart beat. So the results were... not bad. Not excellent, but not bad. They kept me strapped up for a long time because she wasn't seeing much of a rise in their (especially our son's) heartbeats when they moved. Basically their hb's stayed the same, a healthy beat with little change. There were a few little dips in our son's heart rate when he would move around, but they would level out quickly and resume a normal rhythm. The Labor and Delivery " boss " didn't seem concerned about the dips and my OB said they could go ahead and send me home since his heart rate rose back up to normal so quickly. The concern is that the babies are just growing so fast and are big enough that their movements are very restricted already. I'm not a very big person and I don't have a lot of torso room to provide for these little ones that are measuring larger than their gestational ages. I'll continue getting my weekly ultrasounds and weekly (maybe twice weekly now) NSTs. I'm worried that the doc is going to say we need to get the babies here sooner than later. Our desire was to keep them cooking for at least another 3 weeks, but that may not happen if the lack of room shows more drops in heart rate. Well.. whatever we have to do for the three of us to make it through this all nice and healthy we'll do. Take care and have a good weekend. I'm finally done with work for a while and am beginning my partial bed rest this weekend. Toi
