Convention Scholarship Program

Hi everyone -

I know many of you know about the convention scholarship program, as

we now have 6 confirmed recipients with awards, 2 others confirmed

awaiting funding, and 12 others on the " wish list. "

So, two parts to this email.

First of all, the MAGIC convention is coming up faster than we

realize. July 22-25th isn't that far away. Every year families try

fundraising their own funds and find out wow, it isn't as hard as I

thought. Especially if you want to pull a fast garage sale

together (family and friends can receive tax deductible donations

for items they give you for the sale; I provide you with step by

step directions and pre-made flyers!).

Second of all, donations to our scholarship fund are down.

and both have huge fundraisers going, but last year more than

30 families received scholarships. Right now, we have enough funds

for 6 with 2 pending. The stories you hear are incredible. The

little boy that wanted the tricycle? His dad had back surgery and

is on disability, so his mom is off work taking care of all of

them. They survive on SSI and disability. This 3 1/2 year old

weighs 21 lbs and is only 28 inches tall. They desperately need to

get to the convention -- and will drive the 6 hours thankfully, so

airfare isn't an issue.

The stories go on and on. We have more than 400 members here on the

listserve. If every member gave just $10, we would be able to send

10 families to the convention. Small donations add up.
