Guest guest
if you look at what i said [see below] i think the article brings balance to the constant al roker, carnie wilson articles which makes it seem like life is wonderfulhaving surgery and there is no risk. i myself have had 7 surgeries since gb, 5 of which were a direct result. i personally have just seen too many people who do not research beyond the carnie wilson magazine article and too many people who do not supplement. i know thats a generalization - but its what i see and i still think its the majority. sue > if anyone is on the big ossg list or obesity help or other sites where pre ops are, it is info worth sharing. not to scare them but for them to realize that they need to research, they need to supplement and they need to know the facts before viewing this procedure as a miracle. >

Guest guest
I just picked up this week's edition of People magazine. As I was leafing through I found, at the very end, an article about a couple who have adopted 25 male children, ALL w/ some type of disability. They range in ages from 3-25. The article didn't go into all the disabilities the children have, but they did mention spina bifida and cystic fibrosis. And did I mention the father is wheelchair bound after an accident. He has no use of arms or legs. Most of these kids come from abused homes. I found the article significant b/c I daily battle w/ different emotions related to my situation. Some days I feel grateful that Christian doesn't have something worse. And other days, like when I found myself bringing Christian to the ER for the second time in 5 weeks, I think could it be any worse? Why me? When's this gonna end? etc., etc. But as I read the article I realized how wonderful these people are. They go out and adopt children. And not " healthy " children. They purposefully seek out male, disabled and abused children to bring into their home and raise. The article stated that they have 83 dr.s appts./ month. And 91 medications to administer. That sure makes my 1-2 visits/month and 2 meds seem like nothing. I've decided, that instead of concentrating on my friends and their " normal " families, I want to try to gain strength from this woman and her husband. Who, it seems, instead of asking " Why me? " asks " Why them? " and " How can I help make their lives better? " I just wanted to share. It's an amazing article about amazing people. Now, I should ask, " Why aren't they on the cover? " Oh well. Thanks for listening. the luckiest mom on Earth
