Guest guest
Hi everyone, I've been away for over a week and am just catching up on the messages so I haven't read everything thoroughly. I'd be very interested in hearing more about how the feeding clinics go and whether it works for their children. If people are using this to help their child overcome oral aversions or eat meals during the day, I can see a lot of benefit. But I also hesitate when I hear that the doctors want to wean the kids off the g- tubes when they're very young (i.e. under school age). The reason I say this is that our son ate 3 meals + snacks during the day, but his appetite was never good enough to help him gain weight. He had no oral aversions, but simply would not take in the quantity of food that he needed. We finally put in a g-tube at age 4 1/2 years, and it's been great for him (not easy, but good for his health). I hope the doctors at the feeding clinic can ensure that the child can GAIN weight on his/her own before stopping the g-tube completely. I don't think the feeding clinic is a bad idea at all, I'm just interested in finding out how they approach children like ours who seemed programmed to be so extremely underweight.
