LOL, in HS we had the option for half a credit to take a week and be

an Outdoor School counselor which is a program the 6th graders do here (or

did... probably got cut) where they go to a camp for a week and learn about

nature and stuff (soil, water, animals (biology), etc.). So the hs

counselors get to choose a name. And I figured since frogs live in

bogs... being a frog lover... (and a silly teenager lol) that frog-a-bog

would be a good name. So FF to today, internet age... I've got something

I can use as a username at any website because no one else has taken it.

And the bad girl stuff... I ruffled a few feathers and offended the

offendable again on the other list. :~}

I do that every few months to stir it up lol! no, not intentionally. I do

however get to the point where I say the wrong thing and people get all

pissy and insist we all think (and say - even though it's never said or

insinuated) that they're bad parents because 7 or 12 or 30 years ago their

child had surgery. That describing the realities of surgical correction

*accurately* means we're saying publicly they are bad parents.

ugh!

Sorry, I just still don't get why I'm responsible for another parent's

guilt. Actually, I know I'm not responsible in any way so I'm cool. I

guess they gotta have someone to blame and it may as well be me or any of

us who have children with nicely corrected and pain free feet free of scars

and pins. It IS offensive to have a child who we don't think of as

disabled isn't it?

Ok - sorry, I suppose I just stirred it up here too with this. I really

don't mean any offense anyone... Honestly! It's just frustrating for me

and I'm not one to keep my mouth shut so don't expect me to. :~}

I guess all in all.. my big question about this whole thing is why we're

all not mad as hell this was ignored by the medical community for 40+

years. Yes, many are but if it's ever put out on the other list no one

takes a stand against the docs. And I know that if I was in the situation

of not having any choice but surgery (unavoidable for the parents, but not

for the docs) that I would be ticked off big time at the medical community

for not offering my child a better correction. Additionally, it bothers me

all the grievous modifications and bad techniques applied to the supposed

*Ponseti Method* that are not considered when the failure of the Method is

the reason for the surgical correction. The bottom line is, do it like

it's supposed to be done and the results will be a success in some

significant way if it ever did come down to surgery.

ok - took time out of my busy day to say that so apparently I felt it

needed to be said.

First of all I think it is important that you speak your mind, tell

people how it really is. I should probably keep up w/ reading on the

other list so I can help convert the uneducated, lol.

When I first joined this group I was " mad as hell " knowing that the

doctor I had 37 years ago probably could have fixed my foot without

surgery but apparently was not knowledgeable enough of Ponseti to do

it. I am still ticked off about that but there's nothing I can do

about that part especially since he is retired now -- wish I could go

back to him and say " hey look how you messed up my foot and look how

great my son's is! " The only thing I can accomplish by complaining

about it is making my mom feel bad because she trusted that he knew

what was best, and I certainly don't want to do that -- I don't fault

her at all. I just know she feels badly about it now, what w/ Sammy

having his foot corrected w/out surgery and all.

It is just appalling to me that people think Ponseti doesn't work

because doctors are doing it wrong -- seems pretty straightforward to

me, I don't think Dr. P could have made it any easier! When I watched

Dr. Dobbs manipulate Sammy's foot, I was just amazed at how quickly

and expertly he was able to do it. It just flat out disgusts me to

think that Ponseti has spent his entire life dedicated to this, and is

STILL at it at his age, and people try to discredit him because they

have modified the method. I guess if we keep at it, we will

eventually make a difference.

Have you ever written to Dr. Ponseti about your doctor and how he is

not properly following the method?
