Guest guest
Our 20 year old daughter uses BiPAP while sleeping (similar to CPAP but delivering different pressures on inspiration and expiration). It made a significant difference in regards top her breathing while sleeping but NO difference in regards to her arrthymias. The only time I could imagine that it would help an arrhythmia is if the arrhythmia is dirrectly related to hypoxia. Then if you resolve the hypoxia, the arrhythmia mighht improve. What type of arrhythmia do you have? Was it in direct relationahip to apnea during sleep? --- goodnessriver goodnessriver@...> wrote: > I have increased my dosage of coq10 to 850mg. a day > and continue to > have arrythmias at night. Guest guest
I did not have any arrythmias during my sleep study. I had epsisodes of very shallow breathing, and one episode where I stopped breathing. My drs. feel that this caused because I have a very weak diaphragm. They aren't sure which machine I need the c-pap, or bipap. They are not sure they will help at all. They think I have the arrythmias, due to my diaphragm being so weak. Guest guest
Carmen I use a CPAP. I had a another sleep study done Tue. night to see if my pressure needs increasing or if I need by machine switched to biPAP. The CPAP really helps me. I have arrythemias at times which are thought to be dysautonomic in nature, but if they return they will probably do an event monitor for 30 days. Right now I am not having a problem with it. If getting CPAP, see if they can give you the kind that can be switched to biPAP when needed. It saves money in the long run. Also, ask for one that has a ramp. This allows you to get to sleep while the pressure is low and then it gradually increases it. I no longer use it, but it was great when I first started. Another big issue with a CPAP or biPAP is getting a mask that is comfortable and works with the pressure you need. My neuro thinks that those with neuromuscular symptoms, should have a yearly sleep study. It has been appropriate for me, as my needs change within a year. laurie > I did not have any arrythmias during my sleep study. Guest guest
Carmen, I was using a C-PAP at night, and it seemed to help in the beginning (although my sleep study didn't show any apnea or anything unusual - I was only monitored while using the C-pap - not w/o). Also, I slept with my head elevated (the only way I CAN sleep, as I'm suspected of having weak diaphragm muscles also). I have been noticing that I'm waking up with a rapid heartbeat each morning. I've been kind of sliding down into a more vertical position while sleeping. After I prop myself back up, my heart slows down. I'm not sure if this answers your question. I would certainly try elevating the head of your bed to see if it makes a difference. Maggie > I have increased my dosage of coq10 to 850mg. a day and continue to > have arrythmias at night. Guest guest
" into a more vertical position while sleeping " . I meant to say " HORIZONTAL " Sorry Maggie >
