Guest guest
I had gestational diabetes when i was pregnant with my twins and all I had to do was test my sugar 3 times a day and make a chart and stay on a good well balanced diet. I did not like picking my own finger but got really used to it fast and it ended up being no big deal. I was dreading giving myself shots though and Thank God i did not need those. good Luck, hope allt urns out well for you and the boys. I will have you in my prayers. Guest guest
I have a question for everyone. I had an episode 2 weeks ago when I got rushed to the hospital due to fainting. My sugar when I got there was 268. 2 hours later when they tested, it was 34. They do not know what the problem is. My glucose test the week before that was normal. It was the fasting one. Now, Tomorrow I go see the Dr and I have to learn to test myself for a week to see if it happens again. My question is, did anyone else have to do this? I know it is for the sake of the babies. (I am 22 weeks pg with twin boys) But, I am deathly afraid of needles and I do not see myself testing me. I hope that hubby will do it. But... I just am terrified!! Any suggestions would be great! Thank you Tricia Proud mommy to Rhianne 02/13/01 and Twin Boys EDD 08/26/04 Ethan and Rhyse Evan
Guest guest
the hopital rented let me borrow the machine with a small deposit and i just had to get the lancets and strips to pick my finger and they were covered but back then I was getting medicaid since we had no real insurance, I don't know if insurances cover them but if they cover things for diabetics then it should be covered. and i had to have a prescription or they would not cover them. I was really easy though and does not hurt, just a little finger pick to break the skin and then put a drop of blood on the test strip and put that in the machine to check your numbers and then write them down. Guest guest
Robin, So you do get used to it huh?? Did you have to go and buy something for the testing? Did your insurance pay for it? Thanks. Tricia
