Hello all,

I really need to switch over to individual messages rather than digests so it's

easier to reply to posts!

Anyway, I wanted to give an update on us. I had my WLS in 8/99, and had my first

baby on 4/19/04. Cadence turned 6 weeks old on Monday, my 34th birthday.

Due to PCOS I was not able to conceive at any time in my past, even with the

help of fertility drugs. Cadence was a complete surprise, conceived naturally on

our 3rd anniversary. I had my 6 week post-partum checkup yesterday and the Dr

said that she could barely tell I'd had a baby. I had no tears or cuts during

the birth, in fact Cadi literally slipped out of me with NO pushing at all. Of

course I had an epidural and pitocin, so I just felt a weird sensation when her

head came out, no pain at all. When the Dr began discussing birth control, I

told her that we were not planning to use any unless she suggested it, because

with my history of infertility, I really don't have the luxury of waiting until

some future year to begin trying for another child. My Dr said to go ahead and

start trying to take advantage of the fact that we just had Cadi, and see if I

conceive on my own. If I haven't conceived within the next 6 months, she will

put me on glucophage to help me with my PCOS. She said I'm healthy, and had a

wonderful, uneventful pregnancy and she sees no reason to advise me to wait at

all. She did say to be sure to tell all my caregivers about my super-fast labor

with Cadi, because she wouldn't want me giving birth at home next time. I

laughed and told her that with my luck, our next baby will weigh 12 lbs and the

epidural won't take, LOL. She said she highly doubts that because history tends

to repeat itself. Eek! I just moved and am now 2 blocks away from the hospital I

gave birth at, so that's a comfort, LOL!

Anyway, Cadi has her 2 month appointment in 1.5 weeks and has to get her shots.

I'm dreading that! But I just wanted to post and update everyone. WLS not only

saved my life, but without it, I'd have never had my precious baby girl.

Hugs to my WLS family,

Shari in KS
