Guest guest
Olivia's procedure went great! The Dr's were very open to RSS and only needed a bit of coaxing with admitting her the night before for an IV. In order to admit her she needed a Ped. Dr to do it so they found one that they really liked. One nurse came in and raved about him (her son goes to this Dr.). One of the nurses said that he had dealt with RSS before so I was excited to meet him. He inserted her IV with lightening speed and Olivia was just starting to cry when she realized he was done, so it was not a bad experience for her! He has one RSS patient in northern Alberta and has done a consult on a case in British Columbia. He's also the Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) specialist in western Canada and told us that there is now IV treatment for kids with OI. He currently has 40 OI patients right now. To top it all off he asked us if we would see him at his office!!! I asked if he was willing to take us on, RSS, OI and all the issues of the two combined and he said he would LOVE to!!! He said he loveslearning and especially likes rare cases. Did we luck out or what!!!!!!!! I was floored!!! So he pulled some strings for us and we'll see him in his office on the 31st of May! We're excited to learn more about the PAM IV treatments that can make Olivia's bones stronger. Back to the surgery, although she didn't go under very well the Dentist got her teeth fixed and she didn't need as much work as we first thought. Only 2 crowns and 4 cavities filled. Olivia is VERY proud of her " teeth painted silver " . Her recovery was uneventful and she ate a little bit 4 hours after so we were glad to be discharged. Although her lips are terribly swollen she's in pretty good spirits. The worst part is from the tape they used on her face to hold the tubes in place. When they took it off they tore 4 patches of her cheeks off. The monitoring patches on her chest also tore 3 circles of skin off. Theses will heal in a while and the don't seem to be too sore, the just look nasty! I've rambled on long enough, we're just so excited with finding this Dr!!!!!! Have a great day, (((hugs))) to all.
