Guest guest
Hello all! First of all, I'm so excited to have found this group! The reason why is because I have some questions that if anyone can answer for me, I would appreciate it endlessly. First of all, a little background-I had WLS (lap RNY) almost a year ago. I've had two miscarriages in my lifetime-one about 4 years ago, I carried till the 6th week and miscarried twins. I had a successful pregnancy after that one and now have a BEAUTIFUL 3-year-old son. Then, in January of 2003, I miscarried again, again with twins, this time in the 15th week of pregnancy. I had my WLS later on that year. My surgeon told me to wait till I was a year post-op to get pregnant. Here I am, a month shy of a year post-op, and I'm ITCHING to get pregnant again. My hubby will be deployed to Iraq AGAIN in September of this year, so we only have the month of August to get pregnant (talk about pressure!) or else we'll have to wait another year. My questions are this: 1. I am on the Ortho-Evra birth control patch. I'm worried that it may take a little time for the hormones to get out of my system, allowing me to become pregnant. Since I only have a month, should I stop using the patch now to get a jumpstart on ridding my body of the hormones? 2. I'm 8 pounds away from goal weight-I don't mind that I may never reach goal if I get pregnant, but I want to be assured that it'll be possible for me to get back to the weight I'm at post-pregnancy. I would hate to have had surgery for nothing! 3. Is there a marked difference in morning sickness post-WLS than there is pre-WLS? 4. I've heard we can't continue eating low-carb once we become pregnant-is this true, and if so why is it? 5. This may sound dumb, but-is there any way that whilst delivering a baby, that we may push so hard as to disrupt our staple lines? 6. Is there any way to increase fertility, allowing me a better chance at successfully conceiving in my small timeframe? I would appreaciate any insight y'all have, any answers, suggestions, etc. Thank you all so much!
