Guest guest
Hi le! Welcome to the group! My name is Pat. I have 4 kids, ages 23, 21, 17, and 14, and two g-kids, ages 3.5 yrs and 28 months. My g-son, , is the 28 month old, and he has RSS. I think we've all had problems with Drs listening to us. It just comes with the territory. I have found that if you make yourself as well informed as possible, most Drs will listen better. ALL mothers seem to be thought of as overprotective. It is our job to advocate for our kids, or g-kids, as the case maybe. We usually spend the most time with them, and we know them best. I've found that stating our concerns firmly, in a logical manner, with facts to back them up, we look less emotional, and the Drs have a tendency to listen better. Not that this works with all of them! LOL We are currently planning on attending the convention this summer. We went last year, and it was one of the most supportive, informative events I've ever been to! It was wonderful being able to meet other parents/g-parents that are in the same situation, and understand what we've been going through. It's hard to find that in any local area because these kids are so few and far between. Can you give us more information about your son? What are his weight and height? How does he do with eating? What problems/information would be most helpful to you? We'd all be happy to help in any way we can. Feel free to email me privately anytime! My email address is pcpets @adelphia.net (no space). I'd love to help in any way I can. I, also, recommend joining the MAGIC Foundation. It is a wonderful source of information, and well worth the $30 fee.
