Dayna,

When we went through this with Max, Dr. H. said to use Pedialyte at

half the rate we normally use. But remember there is no glucose in

it, so watch her BSLs. It will, however, keep her hydrated.

Hopefully this is a 24 hour thing and she will be okay tomorrow.

By the way, have you checked her ketones? Her BSLs can be okay, but

her ketones can be large. If that is the case, she would need IV

fluids. Do you have the letter the Dr. H. has given out for the ERs?

Jodi,

Thanks for the response. I don't have any keto sticks with me.

Since she has had her tube, everything has been so much better and I

didn't think to pack them.

The ped on call said to give her her formula at half rate and if she

threw up more than once per hour to switch to pedialyte and if her

sugars dropped to take her to the ER for a D10 IV.

Thanks so much for responding, your experience is greatly

appreciated.
