Guest guest
Jodie - I haven't been on line in 3 weeks but just saw your email when I popped in to scan. You are correct (as Jodi wrote) that physicians do feel there is an increased risk for ADD/ADHD and autism-line disorders for RSS and SGA children. Whether it is inherent, or a result of undiagnosed hypoglycemia, we don't yet know. I did want to let you know that there are many parents in your same boat, and with our children's lack of appetite, and the effect of many ADD/ADHD meds minimizing appetite as a side effect, we have unique problems! FYI -- At this summer's MAGIC convention, we have scheduled a well- known psych. and published author, Dr. Tom Phelan, who will speak to the ADD/ADHD child. We will then also have several endocrinologists who will also answer any medical questions. > hi everyone! > does anyone know anything about ADDH? my ped. dr and actually myself > as well believe that christopher may have ADDH. he is to young to > test though at this time. he has a VERY short attention span and is > hyper as well. has anyone else's rss child have this? i know > according to the broucher that i got from magic that it can be a > charteristic of rss. if anyone has any input please let me know. > jodie > (nicholas-5 nonrss, christopher-3 22lbs 33 " rss, johnathon-6 m > nonrss)
Guest guest
Just to add to 's message about the convention...Dr. Phelan wrote a great book called " One, Two, Three, Magic. " I read it and used the ideas with my kids. Especially Max. And I used it in a different way with my students at school. I strongly recommend that if you are attending the convention this summer, you should read the book before you go. It's easy to read and the sections are short enough that you can put it down and go back to it again easily. I bought mine at Amazon.com. Jodi Z.
