Guest guest
I guess then just try to pre-prep as much as you can earlier in the day so it's ready to just heat 'n serve? Back in the (bad) old days when I had to work away from home I'd buy hamburger in quanity packs and pre-make lots of stuff like meat balls, poor man's chicken fried steak, etc. It would be raw, but mixed with the seasonings, shaped in to the balls or patties, then frozen. If I froze them out on a cookie sheet first, then I could throw them all in a bag together and just take out the amount I needed. They would not be stuck together. I found this worked with breading meat, also - rolled in flower, then frozen. Now days shoot - we live here, we work here, we home school here; we eat three meals a day together. We have the whole damn day to socialize. NOT seeing my kids is the treat ! LOL! By th e time dinner time rolls around - about 6:30 - I'm ready to ship them off to the bath tub and the bed! LOL! s. Re: Trying to catch up! We used to do the 6:00 dinner but my kids are habitual early risers so bedtime is no later than 7:30. Doesn't matter what time they go down, they are up right around 6am! If I push dinner to 6:00, then bed is literally as soon as they finish. It just doesn't work for us. Dinner is very social for us -- lots of chatting about the day and laid back atmosphere. I love that part!! Thanks for the suggestion. It may work as they get older. Marilouise 9/9/03, LCF, DBB 14/7 Owen and 3/20/99 > Could you not knock dinner time back to 6? Let your dh come home and spend some *quality* time with the kids while you cook That's our system here, it works pretty good. > s. > > Hi Naomi, > I call in the witching hour but we certainly go through it here.
