Guest guest
Any help from all you experienced parents out there would be valuable. We began DMG and Flaxseed oil recently to aid with communication and hyperactivity. We began the DMG first, one tablet at a time and got to three. We noticed an increase in hyperactivity at that point, so we backed off to two DMG tabs. At that point I was reading Kirkman's labsite about some products and saw that a side impact of the DMG could be increased hyperactivity, and that Folic Acid was valuable to offset that because the DMG breaks it down or something...so we added one tab of Folic Acid and noticed an improvement back to normal. Went back up to 3 tabs of DMG, and it was accompanied over about two weeks with an amazing increase in length and spontaneity of his communications. We are so excited with it! Even his ECI teacher noticed it and was amazed that it was correlating to the timeframe we started the DMG. Once we saw the DMG was doing it's thing we added the Flaxseed oil in at 1 tsp a day or so in his juice. This was recommended by our dev. ped. through her talking with Pam Compart, a DAN doc here in MD who said there is some anecdotal signs of it helping with hyperactivity in kids. In the same timeframe, unbeknownst to me at the time, his teacher was seeing a corresponding increase in tantrums and aggressive behavior. The tantrums seem to have winnowed out over the last week or so with significant behavioral attention at home and school. But he is still pulling hair and ears of other kids at school, sometimes unsolicited. His teacher is wonderful trying to utilize time outs and conversations to explain it to him, but it's not getting better. We also just learned that he has a yeast overgrowth problem and we are going to begin a course preliminarily of probiotics to see if that stems the problem, rather than use the Nystatin first in case of behavioral impact of removing the yeast without building up the bacteria he needs to fight the yeast. I see on the flaxseed oil bottle that it is an antifungal. Could it have anything to do with this behavior? Is there anything anyone can recommend we look into? What are the reasons you are all using flaxseed oil? Thanks. I'm a bit over my head on this... Lynn in MD
