Guest guest
Hello Group, I've been gone from the group for quite awhile, but wanted to come back and check in and see how everyone was doing, but also ask a question of the group. I'm 33 weeks pregnant and over the past month I've had terrible stomach gas, where it feels like food isn't passing through. At first my ob/gyn recommended an over-the-counter gas relief med that worked the first few times I used it. However, the symtoms got worse. After eating, my stomach would bloat and get really hard and uncomfortable. Then my back would start to hurt. With the bloating pressure, the baby would really fight it, causing more discomfort. One night the pain got so intense that my roommate had to take me to ER. They asked me if I was having contractions and I said, " No, " but apparently I was, I just couldn't tell because of the stomach pain. The bloating/pain triggered the contractions. I was so uncomfortable, and even moreso once they put monitors on, so that my stomach was even more constricted. I started throwing up and couldn't believe how much I was able to bring up. But the vomiting eventually released the pressure. I've had a couple more " attacks " since then. Food just doesn't seem to be passing through, which causes great pain in my stomach, which triggers back labor. My ob/gyn is concerned that too many bouts of this will trigger actual labor and the baby will arrive too early. Has anyone had problems with this? We're assuming it has to do with the fact that food is processed in my lower intestine, which is getting pressure from the baby, which is causing things to back up. One thing I'm trying is to NOT eat after 6 p.m., not lay down till at least an hour after eating, and walk even after eating. My last attack was just the night before last, so last night was my first night trying this, so I don't know yet if it's realy working. Has anyone else had this problem? What was recommended?
