Guest guest
My daughter, 15 months old, has had a runny nose for 3 weeks (which I thought was allergies) and a cough for 2 weeks. 2 days ago her nose started to run green. So we too her to the ped today and she gave a script for amoxicillian for a sinus infection. She has never been on an antibiotic before (because we have avoided them like the plague. I believe they are what caused my son's GI yeast problem, leaky gut and the reason we went SCD). I think she does need this antibiotic, but it still scares me for her GI health. I gave her her first dose at 5:00 and a probiotic at 7:00. Is 2 hours before or after enough time between?? I was planning on giving probioitcs 3-4 times per day. Is that a good amount? More? Less? Anything else That I can do of give her to help her through the course? The Dr also recommended garlic for the bacterial infection (which I know also kills yeast.) Thanks for any help!! andrea
Guest guest
> > Dear , > > We have our antibiotics especially compounded (at special pharmacy) for KiKI....antibiotics with " corn syrup " in them sent her to the emergency room/hospital when she was nine months old...no joke! It was horrible (diarrhea/pain that they could not stop....very dangerous/became horribly dehydrated). She can't tolerate any of the sweet syrups they put meds in for kids, or this same thing happens. For almost a year now have been having to get things specially made for her......thanks to Elaine's book we now know why.... The doctor thinks it is allergy........????? Anti biotics are hard on the digestive system and the best " antidote " is yogurt and a good probiotic after the anti biotic dose is finished. Carol F. Guest guest
My son just had 2 rounds of antibiotic for strep, and I was very scared to give him an antibiotic. His DAN! doctor recommended an intramuscular injection of Bacillin (penicillin) and it worked great. We also had him on an antifungal at the time and we doubled his probiotic dose ... saw no yeast problems. Guest guest
Saccharomyces Boulardii (not sure I spelled the first word right) is a yeast that competes with candida in the gut, but doesn't cause illness like candida does. You can get it from Kirkman Labs. Some docs recommend taking this while on antibiotics, to help prevent candida from overgrowing. Guest guest
Dr. Natasha -McBride's book " Gut and Psychology Syndrome " has some good specific information on antibiotics. Some antibiotics do more damage than others. Dr. Natasha is a British neurologist/nutritionist whose own autistic son is fully recovered; the nutritional program she recommends for ASD and other dysbiotic children is based on SCD (but stricter than SCD in a few respects, like casein).
