Guest guest
Hello! Well, i `m 4 weeks post op tomorrow and I've tried soda and it just doesn't taste right any more. I was a DR Pepper freak and now I taste it and it turns my stomach. It's just to strong and acidy. Although, I am one of the few that can handle sugar. I eat things with sugar in it and it stays down. I'm not sure if that's good or bad! BTW you'll have plenty of gas after surgery and you won't want to be drinking any sodas that will give you even MORE gas. LoL Best, Joanne Tillman

Guest guest
If it's the acid in the soda that makes you sick can you water it down to make it flat? does that still make you sick? Guest guest
You won't want soda. It has a nasty taste, and you'd have to work hard to get back onto it. Trust me, you'll want juice, Gatorade, and water. Crystal Light is good, too. I used to drink MANY diet sodas every day, and I haven't had any since surgery. I don't miss it! Blessings, Amy. _____________________________________________ Amy S. Guest guest
That is not a medically proven fact that soda can stretch your tummy. I have researched this alot and most doctors do allow their post op patients soda. In fact some give it to them in the hospital after surgery. Guest guest
I still love my diet coke and drink at least one everyday. Liz
Guest guest
Somethings you just have to take on faith. You can live without the soda. Remember you will have a very small stomach, and when you pour soda into something it expands, with your new tiny tummy where will it go? If you try to drink any liquid too rapidly it has no place to go and the other liquids don't expand. I hope this makes it clearer. This is what was explained to me anyway and it makes sense.
