Guest guest
Last week i told you about a bad experience with Dole canned pineapple in juice containing citric acid which is derived from corn. Dole sent me replacement coupons. I bought more Dole canned pineapple " in pineapple juice " bc this time the label said nothing about citric acid. I could not see the ingredient list as it was six packed in cellophane. I opened the pack at home and read the ingredients: pineapple juice, water, clarified pineapple juice concentrate-- nothing about citric acid! The previous was from Thailand, this batch from the pines. I went to the Dole website but there was no detailed ingredient info. I tasted the fruit and it burned. I drained it and rinsed it four times with warm water and it was OK. I phoned Dole and asked if this was different from the " packed in its own juice " I always used to get and they said now it is all the same and they have changed the labels. I explained about our diet and the fact that gluten free is not sufficient for us. i said I would warn my list mates. Their words to me, " You can't do that. " I rest my case on the road blocks often caused with processed foods. Carol F. Toronto, celiac, SCD 6 years
Guest guest
Sigh. If you ever DO find a safe pineapple, would you let us know? I would sure like to be able to eat some. Pineapple is one of those things that's pretty difficult to buy fresh and cut up. It's just not worth the trouble, so I do without. Our health food store carries an organic brand, which I've never tried, it's about $4 a can. Have you ever tried anything besides Dole brand?
