Guest guest
I wish the default on replies were changed to the entire group, rather than the individual who last posted. I recently read a post from Pascoe saying that it was done this way on purpose so people would have to stop and think before posting -- Fair enough, but the trouble is, a lot of people just post automatically without thinking -- I do this myself at times, posting to the individual when I mean to post to the group. And I get lots of posts from people replying to mine, when again, I think they'd meant to post publicly. Recently there was a query about Benadryl, which I responded to publicly. I never saw another post about it, and I bet the initial poster got lots of responses privately. I would have liked to see more responses in that thread (assuming they weren't personal, of course). Also, I imagine rosaceans new to the group may not " get the hang of it " for some time and we may be missing out on their comments for the same reasons. Personally, I'd like to hear new ideas from new people, esp those who have struggled with rosacea for years and have some experience to share with us. and Matija, won't you reconsider? Do others in the group feel the same way? Please respond to the entire group! trackgalcal
Guest guest
I don't understand the confusion. My Inbox screen has two buttons at the top. One says " Reply to Sender " and the other says " Reply to All " . Doesn't everybody have this? Guest guest
Here's a response I received by e-mail to my own post below: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------\ --- I have been trying to figure out how to post to the group for some time with little success. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------\ --- > I wish the default on replies were changed to the entire group, > rather than the individual who last posted. > > I recently read a post from Pascoe saying that it was done > this way on purpose so people would have to stop and think > before posting -- Fair enough, but the trouble is, a lot of people > just post automatically without thinking -- I do this myself at > times, posting to the individual when I mean to post to the group. > And I get lots of posts from people replying to mine, when again, > I think they'd meant to post publicly. > > Recently there was a query about Benadryl, which I responded to > publicly. Guest guest
I feel the same way about the default setting for posting messages. I don't see how having to change the setting before posting will result in a more thoughtful post, especially when it seems most people who complain about their post not showing up believed that they WERE posting to the entire group. It frustrates me to hear of post after post that never made it into group, which to me is knowledge lost. People put a lot of thought, energy, and time into their posts. It's a shame that they then never see the light of day. If the goal here is to promote private conversations between individual members of the group, then the current default reply setting makes sense. But if the goal is to promote open discussion, then surely it makes more sense for the default setting the group. Good luck! ~Jan > I wish the default on replies were changed to the entire group, > rather than the individual who last posted. The most important thing is that we are able to share information. Sure, you can try to educate all users to click on the pull-down " To: " list, but you're always going to get lots of users who either won't remember to or who just don't know. >>I don't see how having to change the setting before posting will result in a more thoughtful post<< Also, I agree with this point. I suggested this over a month ago but at that time, there was no response. I am on other lists, also yahoo-based, and the default is that hitting Reply sends the response to the entire group. (hi!), you said you have 'Reply to Sender' and 'Reply to All'. Yes, I would say that most of us have similar settings, though what the buttons say will vary from one mailer to another. Mine, eg., say Reply and Reply to All. Since pretty much every list defaults to 'reply to all', it happens to me too, sometimes, that I send the my post to the sender, even though I try to think about what I am doing. And I would say that Marjorie, who posts a lot here and therefore ends up with lots of responses meant to the entire group, must be tired of constantly resending the posts to the list that had been mistakenly sent to her only. Guest guest
I agree, too. This group used to default to replying to the whole group. Can we change it back to that? Guest guest
I agree also! It should default to the group. Tammy --- aaclouti wrote: > I agree, too.
