Guest guest
My son is VERY sensitive to food color/dyes. We have realized that just this last Christmas time. The kids LOVE coloring Easter eggs. Do any of you have ideas for making Easter egg coloring stuff that doesn't use the dyes that you buy? I went to Pecan bread site and didn't see anything there for coloring eggs. They already feel like they are missing stuff as they can never have the candy, gum etc. that is given as snacks and prizes at church. I would like for them to be able to do the eggs this year. Thanks in advance. Sandy M. Whole family SCD for almost 10 weeks in support of 5 yr old son who rages.

It will be a dark blue. s says their mustard powder does not contain added starch. I don't eat it but It will make a gold colour. Carol F. Guest guest
You can color on boiled eggs with crayons. Would that be a reasonable option for him? You can also decorate the eggs with stickers. Or what if you just get him some rubber gloves to wear so his hands don't touch the dye itself? Gloves and permanent markers? Guest guest
Martha 's site lists a whole bunch of natural ingredients that when boiled, yield various colors. http://www.marthastewart.com/page.jhtml?type=content & id=channel1545 Be sure to check out the color glossary as well http://www.marthastewart.com/page.jhtml? type=content & id=channel1545 & page=2 Can't say I've tried 'em yet, but I do plan on trying it this year. --Mel
Guest guest
Thanks for all the ideas. They were great. I am going to try some of the veggie dyes that have been suggested. I don't want to use the 'normal' ones even with gloves as sometimes there is a tiny crack and the dye leaks through. This would mean we would have a very mean week after Easter. Thanks again. Guest guest
Thanks for the web site,Summer. Can you please explain your statement: > Food coloring vies for the same detoxification pathways as heavy metals and other toxins, they have to be eliminated by the body. Anyone with these issues are then in double jeopardy with the gluten as well. I do not have a very scientific mind and have been trying to piece all this together for my little guy. Does playing with play dough and crayola markers have a bad affect also. He will sometimes mark on himself with the markers. I have not given them to him for some time but he plays with a cheap playdough 1-2 times a week. Sandy M. Whole family on SCD in support of 5 yr old who rages.
