" I have resigned myself (with confidence in

my new surgeon of course) to the open RNY which is what my insurance

dictates, "

Sharon,

You probably have already, but did you send in an appeal to seek " in

network " benefits for the MGB? Using a version on the letter on Dr.

R's website, I was able to convince my insurance company (Prudential)

that I wanted the MGB, not the RNY, and that the MGB was more cost-

effective, safer, easily revised, and had an easier recovery period.

Since I was determined to get the MGB and not the RNY, it may take

years to save the money to pay for it, and that during that time I

would need other surgeries that insurance would have to pay for. By

having the MGB (and losing weight), I should avoid the additional

surgeries.

If you haven't already, give it a shot. It took a couple of hours to

change the letter to fit my circumstances but in the end it was well

worth it. The MGB is going to be covered at 100%.

If you would like a copy of the letter I sent, e-mail me direct at:

beachwalkers@....

Best of luck. Please keep us posted.

Sincerely,

Bernardine

Thank so much for your help. I would love to see your letter, but if I am

going to do anything like that it will have to be quick because I go for all

my labs and everything next Thursday.

Thanks a million,

Sharon
