Hi ,

Yes, he will gradually return to his old self. Right now he needs

fluids, some food and rest. Please don't try and force him to eat,

for now let him do that on his own. In 3 or 4 days, once the new

antibiotic kicks in, you will see an improvement.

Our son has had only one ear infection and that is what happened to

him. After a bout 4 days, he starte eating again and slowly ate more

util all the medicine was finished. It took about a month for him to

regain all the weight he lost. It worried us but the doctor said that

was fine.

Keep an eye on him and if it looks like the new anitbiotic isn't

working, contact your doctor.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your comments Ken. I have been really stressed about it

and wondering if he is just going to stop eating period. I know that

has happened to other families here. I just need to calm down a bit

and say a prayer and he'll hopefully come around. I'm sure I've been

down this road before, but every time I'm on it I freak out a bit!

Thanks again for being a voice of reassurance.

I'm really sorry you and are going through this. Yuk. Hang in there.

Give me a call if I can help you out in any way. It's horrible when our kids

get sick and won't eat. It's hard enough when they are healthy. Willie had ear

infections like crazy when he was 's age but they've stopped and he had a

hearing screen last week that showed fine hearing. Just hang in there! Love

Hello group. Today i embarked on my first day of making scd foods. I

first attempted to make my own mayo as outlined in Elaines book and it

was a disappointment. Did not thicken at all. Did it in blender, do

not have a food processor yet. Also attempted to make zucchini muffins.

Very wet inside and they sunk in the middle.Any suggestions would be

greatly appreciated. Feeling discouraged. thanx,

To make mayo, you'll need to remove the little hole cover inside the

lid to your blender. Pour the oil through the hole. Pour the oil

VERY, VERY slowly. It should take a couple of minutes to pour all of

the oil into the blender. If you do it faster, it will not whip and

emulsify.

As for the muffins, I don't think you baked them long enough. Next

time lower the temp by 25 degrees and cook for longer. You'll know

they're done when you can stick a toothpick in the center and pull it

out and find it clean (with no gooey stuff on it).

The oil has to be drizzled into the egg and lemon or vinegar not poured or

dumped.

Next time use a little more nut flour in the muffins amd bake a little longer

turning the

oven down a litle.

About the mayo: did you drip the oil in slowly? You can get a fairly

cheap food processor from Walmart, KMart, etc. About $30, maybe less. I

work mine really hard and it's lasted a few years.

About the muffins: you may have to reduce the temperature at some point

in the baking - maybe when they're supposed to be done, but aren't - and

bake longer. That seems to be the solution for a lot of recipes.

HTH. Take care, Fay
