Guest guest
Is anyone here one of Dr. Rutledge's earlier patients? I understand that he started performing the Mini Gastric Bypass back in 1997, but his web page only shows weight loss statistics 1 year out. Please tell me how those of you past 1 year are doing. My Dr. wants to know some longer term statistics because he doesn't want me to go through this procedure and then regain the weight. He knows many people who have had the RNY and other weight loss surgeries who have regained their weight over time and he is not familiar with the MGB and it's long term success rate. If you are not one of his earlier patients, perhaps you know some of his earlier patients and can give me their name or e-mail address. Thanks so much for your help, Kris Kuhl (Fredericksburg, VA)
Guest guest
Hi, Thanks for your response. I wanted to see if there was anyone here who had this done in 97 - 98 because I wanted to see how they were doing with it more long term than 1 year out. I have lost as much as 150 lbs on several occasions and it has taken over a year to do so. I guess if I did everything perfectly after that, perhaps I would have maintained the weight loss. As it says in the research, people who are obese need this surgery for any hope of long term maintenance. I certainly would not subject myself to a Drill Seargent to beat me up !!!!!! I've had enough of that for a lifetime !!!!! I have spoken to several patients who have lost between 100-150 lbs. in a year or less, and they say that their tastes and food preferences have changed since the surgery and they are confident that they will not regain the weight. I am not looking for a " magic pill " . I've done all the diets in the world and been as diciplined as the next person. But I have not been able to maintain a weight loss in the past and would like some assurance that it can be possible with this surgery.
