Guest guest
Hello, Can I have opinions from any of you living in the near Santa ,CA area regarding these DAN !doctors/practitionars in Northern California? Dr. Rowen Miriam Jang, M.D Jan Hanson, L.Ac., M.S., Arlene Banks, R.N., M.S. My dear friend's nephew (7yrs old) was diagnosed in the Spectrum recently and is looking for help in that area. I am in Southern California and I am only familiar with the reputations of the DAN! practitioners down here. Any comments and referrals are appreciated. His parents are very frustrated, discouraged and disheartened. We have all been there, haven't we? Thanks for your help. Blessings, Breney - mom Celiac SCD 8 months - son 12yrs ASD/Asperger/Epilepsy SCD 8 months
Guest guest
Hi Breney, I'm in the Santa area and considering Rowen and Jang for my daughter. Don't know anything about Rowen yet, but I can tell you a little about Jang. You can get some info from the ARI website practitioners list and from Dr. Jang's website. I'll assume you have that info already. I called Dr. Jang several months ago, left a message asking for new patient info by mail. Dr. J called me, was warm and friendly and encouraging, said her treatment protocol is difficult but she knows it's do-able because she's done it all with her own autistic son. She also said, " You have to do exactly what I tell you to do. " Then she emailed me a " new patient packet " which includes a list of " conditions for treatment " , in other words, things you have to do for her to accept your child as a patient. One of these conditions is that the child must be firmly established on the GFCF diet. She is really into working with people who will do her whole protocol, exactly as she tells them to do it. For example, if your child needs supplements, she tells you what supps and what brand and what dose on what schedule and that's what you do. A mom I know who took her son to Dr. Jang said she was not responsive enough when the mom would say something like, " I don't think my son should take that supplement because of bad reactions to it in the past. " When I talked to Dr. Jang and read her new patient info, I definitely got the sense she's got that allopathic doctor habit of TELLING more than LISTENING AND RESPONDING. On the other hand, Dr. Jang goes to conferences and keeps learning new things and trying new things with her patients. So she may already have some kids on SCD and she may already be developing an SCD-legal supplement protocol. Now and again she sends a newsletter out to her patients' parents, telling them what new things she's getting good results with. I saw a newsletter from last summer that talked about RNA therapy and about rapid, low-risk detox (for heavy metals and for chemicals) using specially formulated clay baths that parents can do for their kids at home. That's what I know about Dr. Jang. Another option -- Dr. Natasha -McBride does phone consultations (at very reasonable cost) with parents in the U.S. She's a British neurologist/nutritionist who specializes in working with autistic kids and others who need SCD. Her own autistic son is fully recovered. Dr. Natasha is warm, friendly, encouraging; very positive and upbeat. (She also has some of that allopathic TELLING more than LISTENING AND RESPONDING habit.) Info and how to contact her: www.behealthy.org.uk, www.bio-kult.com, medinform@..., phone (44) 1353 723234 Two other resources -- (1) There's a TACA group in Santa . You can find info on the web. (2) Dr. Carlisle Holland, osteopath in Sebastopol -- A brilliant and wise physician with a heart of gold, has a grown-up autistic son himself so knows " what's new " and " who's doing what " in autism, does osteopathic cranial-sacral treatment with autistic kids. I hope this info is helpful. I wish your friend and her son the best. Kayla
