Guest guest
Hello everyone, I am feeling very discouraged right now and none of my friends or family know what I'm going through. My son is eight years old - he's been on the diet for two months now and I don't know if it's working or not. He just came off Prednisone on Monday and was put back on it today (Saturday) because he's going to the washroom non-stop. They also started Salofalk on him yesterday. His disease is currently affecting mostly his lower colon and rectum. The inflammation in his rectum causes him to constantly feel the urge to defecate even though there's no stool. I feel like a prisoner in our home due to the need to be near a washroom at all times. I've read that people who have Ulcerative Colitis or Crohn's usually take over a year on the SCD diet to be in complete remission. Whatever encouragement or personal stories you can send my way would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Helen Son eight years old, UC 11 months, SCD 2 months
Guest guest
We were told " ulcerative Colittis " during the colonoscopy. When the biopsies came back they said " crohns. " Ella's been on the basic diet very high in protein and then the stage one foods of pearsauce, applesauce, butternut squash, ripe banana, cooked and pureed green beans. Since you are still having acute syptoms have you gone back to the intro diet? Do you know if you son is sensitive to dairy? or any other items? What have you added recently? Sheila would always ask us .. " what have you added to your diet " when we saw softness. I found ELLa's trigger was even too much simple carbs in the legal form. We've found several illegals as well in the first two months. Can you post exactly what he is eating for folks to scour thru? Right down to the very detail of salt? We are newbies, but we could always find formed stools by scaling back on the carbs and going back to proteins. Does your son get much meat or is he resistant to this? From the things that I have read, I would encourage you to keep on keeping on. Healing will come. Guest guest
Well I have UC and have been on the diet for two years and am not anywhere close to complete remission. I think for some people complete remission is not possible, you have to accept something less. Not to be negative, just be patient and realize perfection might not be a possibility. SCD might be your answer it might not, but regardlless the above is true > >Reply-To: pecanbread >To: pecanbread >Subject: Please, I need success stories from people who have >Ulcerative Colitis/Proctitis >Date: Sun, 09 Apr 2006 03:18:21 -0000 > >Hello everyone, > >I am feeling very discouraged right now and none of my friends or >family know what I'm going through.
