If the magnesium, lithium (over the counter mineral supplement from health food store), calcium, enzymes, probiotic etc. work, then that means his body probably needs it. The pharmaceutical companies coopted lithium and tampered with it to get a patent, when they discovered it worked. The lithium I give Toren is not a pharmaceutical drug, and just because it helps calm down his adhd, oppositional behavior doesn't mean he's bi-polar. He's happier, and getting well; he's making an effort, it seems actually to be bringing him into life. But your right that we might be careful not to create excitotoxins, with the wrong or to much of the right foods and supplements; it can be tricky...... Nothing... food, meds, or supps should be given in excess. Dear , Do you think that once his gut heals that he will still need all that stuff? It is my hope that we will not...am I misunderstanding Elaine? I am not a fool...if we need medical intervention we will use it. Heck I was raised in the 70's and 80's...my parents did the best they could...heck even Elaine says in her book that even now a days if we wait for the medical community to catch up...some will have waited too long! Do you believe that this is a CURE....or a permanent solution of sorts....at my age I may have permanent damage...but what about our kids who's brains I hope can snap out of this? Please do not think I am being judgmental of you... I am not...we are all just parents here trying to do our best too.....just wanting to know what you think.... How do you know what is SAFE????? I feel this is potentially dangerous in light of our over taxed livers and damaged guts! Even Elaine in her book warns about mineral supplementation (which counts lithium/since it is a salt in) and upsetting the delicate balance...please reread. These days I am not keen on prescription drugs....or some of these supplements you talk about.......Elaine's daughter and countless others with ASD have healed without it...and we are going to try this route....yet continue to take advantage of enzymes.....and vitamin supplements...mostly eating good and healthy SCD food!
